Question boost level spikes when throttle closes ??

My question is how to properly set the max boost level with a manual controller. For example I normally will run the car down the highway at full throttle in 3rd gear ( and maybe 4th if I feel lucky) and dial in the boost level to 15 psi while the throttle is wide open. Now during normal driving I see those sudden and very quick spikes in boost of up to 17-18 psi immediately after letting OFF the accelerator. Are these quick spikes something that you other 951 drivers see ? Is this actually normal or do I need to re-adjust max boost again ?? Like I said with throttle wide open in 3rd boost is stable at 15 psi. ( 86 951 with API chips, lindsey dual port W-gate with manual boost controller, stock turbo)

Thanks Zippy

I am assuming you are using an aftermarket boost gauge, and not the one in the dash?

What about your recirc valve, stock origional, new origional, or aftermarket?

If you have your boost gauge signal from the IC piping, then that spike is normal...

I have a dual port Waste gate so the cycling valve is out of the equation correct ? I'm sampling the boost right off the banjo bolt and I do have an analog boost gauge. Good to hear this is normal. Thanks Zipps

Normal …but wrong. Move your boost gauge connection to the intake manifold for a correct reading.
