Default Wiper issue where next

2 weeks before the glen race (which always rains when I am there) and my wipers do not work. So far I have

checked the fuse
changed the switch / stalk unit behind the wheel
replaced the wiper motor

still no joy, any inspiration?

Mine are busted also. However my car blows fuses whenever the ignition is turned on. I unplugged the motor and it still does it. When I unplug relay X (G14) it doesn't. This apparently switches off electrical stuff while cranking. These are cheap (about 10 bucks I think) so I am hoping that is it.

First, see if, when you take a hot lead from the battery and touch it to the wiper motor, it works (make sure you also ground the motor. Then you'll know the motor is good. Looking at the wiring diagram, the brown, pin 6 on the motor, is ground. Black/Yellow, pin 4, is 12v power, and pins 2, 3 & 5 are the speed controls. (Alligator clips are great for this kind of testing.)

If the motor checks out, then see if a voltage is going to the switch... The black/red going to the column switch (pin 53a) should have 12 volts. that goes out of the switch via 53, 53b and 53f.

Dan

I wired up my wipers to a regular on off switch on my dash. I got rid of all the stalks around the steering wheel. To wire it up I had a hot lead go into a fuse and then found the fastest setting on the wiper motor and wired the switch up to that. It removes all the relays and such and when were racing the only speed for wipers we would need are the fastest speed.
