Default Knock Sensor

So I bought a knock sensor off of e-bay that was advertised as part # 944 606 145 00. The sensor that arrived is a volvo part # 1367644. No big deal I say, just pull out the multimeter and make sure it reads in spec.

Nope, I am getting the same reading (none) as I am with my currently installed knock sensor. Not 270-330 ohms. In a search I saw caster951 had the same issue, also bought a new knock sensor that did not test out OK. Is this common? Is the volvo knock sensor the same as the 944 one? If so, does it sound like a dud?

TIA. I was excited to install a functioning knock sensor and see if some of my missing HP came back

OT: but didn't you think you lost your engine once when you heard some ticking or knocking? i don't remember if you fixed that.

Sebastian, that is a possibility, I think it was exhaust leaks

BUMP. Who has successfully tested a knock sensor!?

Yes, its common for new and used knock sensors to read infinite resistance on DMMs. I have had a couple that do indicate within the factory spec and some that do not. Has had zero effect on peformance, and likely zero effect on function (although that is hard to test).
