Default Transmission Reverse gear

I am in the process of replacing my syncros since last year they were grinding a bit more than usual, even with slow shifts. Having taken most of the transmission apart I am wondering if the rounded edges on the reverse gear is normal?

Thanks in advance for the input.

I plan on posting a DIY Syncro replacement with pics after all is said and done.

I don't think they look that bad....at least not for 20+ years of reversing. But either way Kudos for undertaking this project
