Well, yes and no. the 7M was an older engine, stop production in the early 90's. But they did a 267HP version of the 7M, so that destroys the stock 968 motor.

If you want to compare the 968 engine, pick a similar year 2JZGTE motor, which also destroys the 968. All of this goes out the window when you pick the F20 motor which embarrasses the 968 platform, and most others.

Comparing an NA 4-cylinder to a twin-turbo'ed 6 cylinder is hardly fair...
Now if you compare the 968 engine to the naturally aspirated version, the 2JZ-GE, which was ~220hp in best trims, I would say the 968 motor fares quite well.

Well I didnt make the comparison to start with... ok, lets compare the F20 a 2.0 4 cylinder to the 3.0 4 cylinder 968 motor. 968 is embarrassed. Actually even my 4age 20v in HP per litre wipes out the 968.

"even my cosworth XXXX"
"even my S2000"
"Even my e30 M3 Engine"
come on now the 4 Ag 20v is actively hot
what else came to to hp per litre to a 20v in the 80's that wasn't in a sports car ?

What's the tq comparison though? Not that this is a pissing contest between the 968 and everything else. I would think the basis of the 968 motor design goes back to the 70's.

F20 has 10 years of advancement on the 968 motor. Furthermore, with only 153 lb/f of torque, it doesn't hold a candle to the 968. Even Honda acknowledged that the F20 only made power at an unusable RPM (9000rpm red-line), and after a few years stroked the motor to give it a more usable powerband (also lowering the red-line to 8000).

I'm not saying that the F20 isn't a fantastic engine - it is quite impressive. But, I do think the 968 engine, especially for the time, deserves some credit.

Well the 4AGE 20v is a low end motor to go in crappy Levin's and Station Wagons etc, its hardly a performance motor in an exotic car, I so guess thats why I say "even".

Hmmm…you learn new things every day….I didn’t even know that Lart actually drove 944s other than to get them home to dismantle them…

Here's the dyno graph that Lart is "hoping for", if you knowhatimean...

An 800hp 2JZ in a 951, that should be good for...what? Like a 14-second quarter? The world's ONLY 951 Dyno Queen and Highway Roll Racer!! It'll be something (e)special(ly gay) for sure.

Rolf, is 2jz in a mkIII, not a 951. Boost is sufficient for the 951 unless of course you suffer the SWD, like many v8 conversion guys who suffer the wiener shrinking disease and need the reassurance of a bigger engine to compensate for their loss of manhood. Good thing that with the v8 extra power also comes extra viagra

I just assumed you were talking about putting one in your 951. If i had known you were a MkIII Supra owner i wouldn't even have bothered implying you were gay...owning one of those ****boxes is all the proof i could ever need that you love the sausage!!

And for the record, i don't think there's a more compensatory motor in the whole world than the 2JZ...Lart's testes must be the size of raisinettes!
