I want this thread to be about bad idle problems, bad start-up's, and solutions. List your problems and things you have checked so we can fix some 944's!
I will go first. My 951 has an intermittent erratic idle at around 500rpm on some startup's. It will bog on load during first minute of driving. The reference sensors were just replaced. It will sometimes rev itself on a hot start up.
I just played around in the engine bay and revved the motor by hand at the throttle body and it stumbles right at the point where the tps clicks but will rev normal after that part but a very slight throttle makes it stumble at idle.

Rough, rich idle. Ordering new plug wires and injector seals--will update. Already replaced TPS, AFM, all vacuum lines, intake gaskets, plugs, fpr. Little things make these cars freak out since its a maze of vacuum doodads and hoses that make it work.

86 turbo had for 3-4 yrs now. changed to a Lindsey Racing built 3.0l motor...changed all the sensor harnesses off main harness Except the injector harness. but it ran "fine" before the switch to 3.0l(bigger injectors now 55lb from 34lb).
first start was good but rich...played with the mafterburner all over the place but still pissing fuel out the tail pipe. we had to shut it down so not to wash the cylinders down.
sent the whole wiring harness down to Lindsey Racing. Dave found the injector harness wired to the dme main connector was "wrong"! he talked to Tim at injector.com and this is how Dave explained it in the email to me...Tim @ www.injector.com tells me they need to all be positive on the one side and the side itself is important. This was two on each side, so maybe I did find the problem.
so he changed it and sent it back to me. i installed most of it ,but its so important to me to be done right, that i have to wait for the super busy porsche shop to fit me in. until then i dont know if this is fixed now?!
why would the car run fairly fine before the change ,w/ the injector harness the way that it was?
the way it was wired...did that cause the injectors to run constantly?
thanks for any input...if this isnt the fix then i dont want to take it to the shop until i know whats wrong! paid $10 grand there last time!

No iacv, no problem. Idles perfectly except when the engine is ice cold, even then I hold my foot lightly on the gas for a min or two and then it's fine. That was my solution and i'm very happy with it because it really simplifys things, and the idle is always 100% steady once it's initially warmed up.
