Hi,

i tried to install my new SFR Headers with the Tial 46mm Wastegate and adaptor kit. It fits good.



I installed the Wastegatevent to the crosspipe and the vac.hose to the sideport of it. Hope this was right?



Now i have to install the adaptorpipe to the Lindsey 3" Exhaust but it won't fit. Look at the picture. Where is my problem? I think i have to weld me a new pipe from Wastegate to the Lindsey Exhaust.



Perhaps you have any idea whats wrong there?

Sven, sorry but i cant help with your problem. I however was wondering if you had any tips for installing the headers? Did you loosen the motor mount and jack up the right side of the engine?

 

Hi Sven, please take a picture to show your complete Lindsey system so we know which version you have.

 

Can you rotate/adjust the pipe between the wastegate and the crossover?

 

It was a big job to install the headers. The old bolts on the turboside are very bad. I only removed the Stuts on the header side because the sfr header is to big.

Yes, i can. It's all new. Bolts, seal, pipe.

 

I ran into the same issue as you. I had to significantly shorten the wastegate-to-exhaust pipe in order for it to fit with the Lindsey 3" system.

 

I think that is have to shorten the adaptorpipe to exhaust and weld it in another angel. But its good to hear that you had the same problem...

 

That is one of the most highly polished cam towers I've ever seen.

 

I would be contacting Lindsey and ask them why it doesn't fit before you start modifying it. They have sold quite a few exhaust systems and should have a solution to your problem.

I was able to bolt up the SFR headers without jacking up the engine but it was a very tight fit. You need to remove the hard water line and I alos took off a few more parts to allow a little more room.

 

Yeah it's not only polished. cleaned, polishes,cleaned, chromed, cleaned, ant the porsche letters are real gold

 

Our exhausts wastegate receiver pipe have been identical since day one in centerline. We have adjusted
diameter a little back and forth over time. The wastegate pipe to exhaust may need shortening. They
vary in length. Size and cut as required. Or better yet, trim some, test fit, trim more if
need be.

Chrome is a dipping process through many steps. How did they protect the lifter bores, cam
bores and what about flaking of chrome inside if they didn't get good adhesion?

 

The adaptorpipe is wrong in angel and size. I think i weld me a new pipe and than it's good.

All holes have to been closed with spezial plugs and plates additionally all other things are mask with spezial tape. I also chromed the Lindsey intake coolant and pipes... A friend of me chromed his shortblock, head, gearbox of a vw golf

 

Your car will be awesome ! Are you happy with your oilcooler and FMIC ? Have the FMIC but not yet installed.

 

I installed it but i haven't attached the oilcooler. SFR sent me wrong fittings. So i have to buy me new ones.
What do you mean with FMIC?

 

FMIC = Front Mounted Inter Cooler.

Is your avatar picture an actual picture of your car? Because that car has the intercooler moved down, requiring longer intercooler pipes, this allows the oil cooler to be fitted where the factory intercooler normally sits. All of those in the picture look like SFR items...

I think people (well I am) are curious if the extra length of intercooler tubing adds any noticeable amount of extra turbo lag to the system.

Also, why did the fittings not work with your car? German model? Or...?
