Default Newbie Here!

Hey all,

Come this weekend I will hopefully be driving around in a 1989 944 Turbo and I can't wait! I've loved the bodystyle of the 944 since I first heard of it a few years ago. I've looked at buying a couple N/A older 944s that I've seen around my area but could never get the money together and I haven't seen any as of late. I tried trading around with my 95 Mustang GT for one but could never find a good deal and ended up dumping a whole lot of money into it fixing it up, so I decided to keep ahold of it. This past summer, before I started going to college, my parents decided I needed a newer vehicle that they could trust. Although the Mustang looks nice, its 190k mi and 4.10s scared them for the 4 hour trip to school so they purschased me a really nice, fully loaded 2002 Dodge Ram and very soon I was looking for a new ride. Although the truck had the huge 5.9L, it had NO ***** and sucked gas like there was no tomorrow, leaving me with an empty pocket as they expected me home nearly every single weekend. Started looking and I found an 05 SRT4 with around 50k mi and a few light mods (BFMIC, CAI, Greddy BOV etc) and traded for it. I've been driving it for the past few months and haven't had any problems out of it. I had to swap the BOV out and fix a few vacuum leaks and hoses but overall its been a great daily with a good bit of get-up and go. However, being a Mustang man, the FWD killed the car for me along with the crappy cheap interior. I've been looking for a newer Mach 1 to replace the SRT4 as a daily, however I found this beautiful black on black 1989 944 Turbo on Craigslist and had to have it. The owner has a ton of reciepts from the work thats done on it and its just flat out gorgeous. I met him last week and we've arranged a trade plus $1500 that will go towards paying off our loan on the car and hopefully, if everything works out, I will be getting it this weekend. He's only getting rid of it to free up some garage space (He also has a 928 (I think), a E36 M3, a limo, and a couple other cars) and hopes to have better luck selling my SRT4 in our area. I'm no new kid when it comes to cars and I know a lot more than most people realize for my age and I really don't plan to do much to this 951. It already has chips, a drop-in K&N, and a boost enhancer along with some nice 18" wheels. It'll become my daily and my extra money will be going into my graduation present, a 1967 Mustang coupe.

I just wanted to introduce myself, I've been lurking the past couple of days and figured I'd annouce myself as the Mustang kid with a 951!

See ya,
Sam

Off hand I cannot think of any members who are down your way but I am sure you will find some.

Some quick tips.

1. Use the search function
2. Clarks-garage.com has a wealth of knowledge about 944/51's

Those two are huge.
And I am sure others will chime in with other suggestions.
Oh and post some pictures of your car!

I'm not a forum newb, I'm a huge member of SN95forums and a couple other smaller ones, but I appreciate the like to clarks-garage.com. I've been doing a lot of research on them lately, and I did a lot before when I first found them, crazy to think in just a few days I'll be rolling in one. No pics of the 951 yet, but I suppose I could show off my other rides.

The 95- My baby. Custom white paint with silver pearl and metalflake, lowered, BBK O/R H-pipe/ Dumper flows, 01 Cobra seats (leather/suede), FR500 steering wheel, Bullit pedals, 17" Bullit wheels, 4.10 gears, etc etc

The 67- The next insane project. Bought it as it sits with a Grab-A-Track suspension, 302, 4-speed, and redone interior. Plans- 69 Torino 302 with a little work waiting to go in, T5 tranny swap, AirRide suspension, custom Trans-Am inspired paint, Shelby front clip, SN95 Cobra brakes, Shelby CS69 18" wheels, redone yet again interior.

Its new motor

The SRT4 aka Pumpkin

I'm a bit of a photo freak so I'll be posting some pics of the 951 as soon as I get it although don't expect much, my Rebel is a bit fubar'd at the moment.

You will have a great time in the 951. The handling is just fantastic. Enjoy your new Porsche.

Thanks, I am incredibly excited to have a car that actually handles. Now if only I could find some AutoX events around here.

Haha. I doubt I'll sell the 95 Mustang. I've put way too much time, money, blood, sweat, and cuss words into it. I got rid of it once, used it as a down payment for the Ram. Bought it back two weeks after I got the SRT4 at the same dealership as I got the SRT4. Bought it literally the day after the owner brought it in, was NOT going to let it get away again. Nothing matches its sound and fun. Besides, who wants to buy a super high mileage Stang with a rebuilt title? Doubt I could get what I paid two years ago for it, BEFORE any of the work I did. Oh well, doesn't cost much for liability and gas, worse comes to worse, I'll get a bigger storage unit and store it with the 67.
