Default 88 turbo S 4 front brakes

Does any one have these brakes, and if so do you have this black flag like thing on what looks to be a brake line port that is plugged ?

Ed

Have never seen such a "block". All old school Brembos i have dealt with have a smooth "blind spot" in that location.

I've seen the brake pad wear sensor wire looped behind that... That's all I can offer.

Yes, my set that came off of an 88TS has those blocks. Neither of my 89s had them.

Never figured anything out myself, so asked and was told that they are a vibration damper, an offset mass to change the natural frequency of the caliper, to reduce the brake pad squeel. Heard this from the local p-car shop ower/former dealer trained technician/944 expert.

Regardless of what they were for, since they were never put on the later calipers, they must have been found to be of little use/effectiveness.

Not a big deal Dan, dont waste any time checking. I was just curious which ones are the current/latest parts, as there are several part numbers that have been used for the "928S4/Turbo S" calipers.

928 351 421(2) 00
928 351 421(2) 01
928 351 421(2) 02
928 351 421(2) 03 (everything appears to supersede to the -03)
951 351 423(4) 90 (on the 951 Cups)
951 351 093(4) 00 (on the 88TS cars)

There were piston size, seal and dust boot differences, not sure what else.

Just another bolt that will not come off ( I need to take it off because I was going to have them powder coated) they will melt in the oven if I don't get them off..
Just in case someone want to why I am trying to get it off.... There seems to a sealer / glue on the surface between the caliper and the plastic flag... It's gray colored..

It's indeed plastic ... I can't believe there isnt someone out there that has run into this ? I need to get this off and I am betting big time that the screw here is going to strip... I assume there must be an port behind there ? Its sealed up to the caliper with some kind of cement ... looks to be off white in color ..
Anybody ?
Thanks
Ed
