I am having trouble. My turbo has a little shaft play and If I have to remove it to put my new downpipe on. I need the car in a week and I am low on money. I need a K26-6 or a K26-8 for $200 shipped of less. It needs to have slim to no shaft play and the studs for the downpipe need to be good or removed. PM me with details.
Thanks

I am having trouble. Can you remove the turbo's downpipe when it is installed on the car? I already broke the first bolt I tried to remove after letting them sit soaked in pb blaster. Any tips. The turbo has a little shaft play and If I have to remove it, I will get a better one but I need the car in a week. any suggestions....
I was going to install my 3" downpipe and testpipe.
Thanks
**Update- looking for a low mileage k26 or K27 vs. Rebuild? How expensive to rebuild a k26-6

I don't think there's any way to remove the downpipe while the turbo is still in place. I've got my engine out of the car on a stand and it's STILL a tight fit. There's no room on the ends of the threads for the nuts to come off because of the heatshields that are also near the turbo. But removing the turbo is only 2 bolts.

Do a search, there are several Turbo shops that can turn a rebuild around in a couple of days.

All turbos have a little shaft play. You might want to measure it and see if it is in spec. If the turbo is coming out, why not rebuild it and get new bearings/balance that you know will last? Used is always a crap shoot.
