I have yet to find an inexpensive 4-probe EGT monitor/display in the automotive world, but MGL Avionics has a 2.25" round display that will handle up to 4 thermocouples (K-type compatible) for $225. Chief Aircraft has them, see the link for the MGL-TC1 unit:

...just thought someone might find this useful. If there are better alternatives in the automotive world, I'd like to find out about them.

yeh this little box is about 260 US and it logs 4 thermocouples the amnps in there
logs 3 X 0-5v inputs
2 pulse or rpm inputs
and conrols and logs wide band o2
so it's you can easy configure it to log MAP RPM injector duty air inlet temp

For those that like to fabricate stuff aircraft spruce is a great resource…really neat stuff at a reasonable price.

I have race technologies dash in the track car and the only other Gauges is the 3.5” MGL E1 and a boost gauge.
The dash is begin redone for this season…I am looking forward to the digital world!

I haven't used the MGL, but I do have a JP Instruments EDM 700 CHT/EGT bar graph on my certificated aircraft (MGL is for experimental aircraft). These units are very easy to wire up and the bar graph gives a quick picture of the mixture distribution amongst cylinders.

Very nice, i was looking at the Aerospace Logic some time ago before i decided to just get a Defi single channel gauge.. didnt really need the 4 channel, especially at ~$400 (plus cost of four probes) for the Aerospace Logic. This is much more reasonable though and a nicer looking gauge. Still have yet to order the rest of the gauges, but i think i may try one of these out.

Ive been thinking of the MGL too. The only downside to it is that it stores the high values in memory and cant be erased/reset. So theres no reset button to get highest EGTs for the session/drive/etc.

Edit: And its bezel with the screw holes isnt removable. I asked.

When viewing the memory temps pressing the F1 key will reset the value.

You can always ‘trim’ the bezel and then rear mount it with a 58mm round hole.

I wanted a single channel (using the test port) that I could datalog. Went with AEM analog gauge, has a 0-5V output. At $170, it isn't too bad.

Chris, Aircraft Spruce is a great place to shop for really good products. I use them at work all the time. I like the fact that I don't have to write the check.

the probes are not expensive its the fancy stainless braid that is expensive ..
you can by regular probes from the electronics shop for 12$ you just have to be careful mounting them

My pet peeve on most of the automotive EGT gauges is that they stop at 1700 or 1800…you can see more than that on a 944 turbo….and that’s where you want to know what’s going on!

What situations would you want to see more than 1800F? Isn't that too high anyway I mean...

You don't 'want' too...but you may see it and it would be really nice not to look at a pegged gauge!!

Its kind of like having an oil pressure gauge that does not show anything below 20 psi. You don’t want to be there…but you sure want to know what’s going on it you do get there!

I had to look around for one that went to 1800F, lots of them only go to 1600F. I do believe if I see my gauge pegged at 1800 for more then a few seconds, I am slowing down. Too much money in the headers and the turbo to "cook" them.

I have read that some have seen 2400F when the car starts to backfire but I think the noise would be a clue to back off.
