Default Why does my new O2 sensor look used?

Not for the Porsche, but a Bosch for my Subaru. What gives? Do these things look used normally?

They typically have a nice brown patina, as if it's been heated. There should be no deposits on the sensor, only some anti-seize on the threads.

They are tested by heating the tip at the factory.
