Default Question about 86 951 Wheels/Tires/Shocks

I have 16" Fuchs on my 86 944 Turbo running on 205/225 F/R setup.

When I had my M3, stock setup was 225/255 and I upgraded to 245/275 when I had to buy new shoes and it filled out well nicely and the tires were in line with the fenders.

In my 944, I see the wheels are "set in" a little...is this how most of you run for daily driving.

I need to get new tires, so do I get wider tires, or push the rims out...or do nothing and keep it as is -- is it purely cosmetics???

After posting multiple thread on rims, looking for 17" Cup wheels (no twist) and not finding anything, I am going to keep the 16" Fuchs, but need new rubber.

Also, what about shocks...what do most of you have as a replacement? I see a lot of you run on Koni's...but I just drive barely 2500 miles a year. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

I would go 215/40/16 Toyo T1R in front and 245/35/16 T1r in the back. The short sidewall will give you better steering response and acceleration, and also look good. However in order to fill the rear out you will need a spacer, I used an H&R DRM 21mm bolt on spacer in the rear and it filled them out really nicely, here is a picture of my old Turbo with the same 23.3mm offset 8 inch wide wheels as yours - note though that I had 8 inch wide wheels in the front too. You can put 5mm spacers on your fronts without having to change studs.

@944CS. Thank for the info. Those tire sizes are not readily available...even on TireRack.com.
I do like the stance on your car.

Anyone else have opinions????

Tire rack does not carry the Toyo brand that is why, just google toyo tires and you'll see who carries them. Even your local tire stores will carry Toyo and could order these sizes in.

Anyone else use spacer on 16" Fuchs or just keep it as-is?
