Looks like the more expensive model has Peak/warning. http://prosportgauges.com/amber-whit...ure-gauge.aspx

that EGT shop with all the braided thermocouple stuff is a good start and there are lots of nice basic multi channel thermocouple amp / logger set ups .
I like these as you can do heaps with them but other wise if you just a guage i would prefer to use somthing that's uses and industry standard K type

Huh? I don't want a wideband.

So are we settled on the oil filter sandwich plate as the best location, or.....??

did you look at what it is ? it logs basicly every thing and will take and amplify/ log 4 thermocouples ..
sorry i should have realized it's a bit advanced for ya .... its 400 with out he sensor .. wich is pretty cool considering a basic non logging 2 channel thermocouple metre is 100.

but for a simple (mind) single gauge i would still just prefer some thing that takes k type this way if it ever falls down you can trouble shoot it easy and you can also cheaply have several probe's installed and swap them around ..

Ok I thought that must have been what you were saying. So this logs oil temps in this situation. So it takes a line off the gauge?

looks like it's just you. I had no problem.

blah blah blah K type K type K type ..............KAY TYPE THERMOCOUPLES K TYPE K TYPE
K TYPE K TYPE .
it logs which ever 4 temps you want ... and as it takes 4 K type thermocouples it can be any 4 temps you want
like in port egts
tans-axle temp
under colar temp
pre cooler post cooler temp charge air temp

and for the third time i will if you don't like this logger meter etc fine but what ever gauge you get I'm saying it should take a K type thermocouple probe.

I am able to get back in now Elliot. Interesting what they state on their website about this question:

http://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Parts/944OILDP.html

So I still wonder where the best place to take the temp is??

I too will be using the sandwich plate for prosport electric gauges. I bought the gauges that have peak recall and warning.

I double checked on that....its actually pre cooler, so you will be seeing the 'high' temps. There is not an easy way to measure the post cooler temps for a stock system (its pretty easy to do it for a dry sump system!).

Peak warning and recall of highest temps. The peak warning has an external output for an outboard warning light – not a bad idea for a track car.

Anyone have a picture of the collar installed?

Chris - do you happen to know the fitting sizes for both the oil pressure and oil temp holes? I'm sitting on a VDO electric oil pressure gauge from past projects. If my sender fits, I think I'm good for a collar. No - laughing - of course I don't yet know the thread size on my sender.....

It has 4 1/8" npt holes. It is very easy to drill and retap for larger sensors - I have done that to fit some metric fittings.

BTW - the 'premium' line of gauges have very small senders, great for tight areas.
