Default Tire options - why are there none?

Tire Rack lists 6 matching sets for my 1988 Turbo S. It seems there are lots of options for a 225/50/16 tire, but the 245/45/16 size is very limited. Never expected tire options to be so limited for the rears. Tire rack has 6 matching seats with 5 being all out track tires, and some Fuzion brand. Any suggestions?

With rims/wheels getting larger with the years the smaller sizes are getting increasingly hard to find. There is even a pretty limited selection for 17's nowadays too.

I've run Fuzions (HRI and ZRI) before and they were pretty good for being cheap.

most manufacturers of 245/45/16 aren't carried by tire rack, that's why.

What retailers do you recommend for the 16 inch tires?

Also Tire Rack's new system of working only off your car model is really, no let's try a bit better, R-E-A-L-L-Y annoying. You can't search wheels under specs and sizes.
erghh.......

Doh, didn't see you typed wheels. Yes, it is a PITA to search for wheels. But they don't carry **** for 5x130 anyways

I would find the tire that you want first and then search retailers to find the best price. Try www.onlinetires.com or www.discounttiredirect.com

I put the Fuzion ZRi 245/45/16 on the rear last summer and was quite pleased with them. I will be replacing the fronts this year with them as well. They are a good all around tire, even quite good in the rain, and acceptable for the occasional track use. My only complaint is they are a bit noisy around 60 km (40 mph), but speed up a bit and its gone. Bottom line - good street tire, especially for the money.

The limite supply of 245/45/16 is a concern for me and my Turbo S. I want to keep the stock wheels and stock tire size. Being only a street car I don't go through tires that fast, but I do fear that when my ES100's are done I will have a hard time finding replacements.

A lot of stock class guys use these tires. They also refer to them as cheater tires as they have amazing grip. No 245 but last season I had zero problems with stock sizes at the track. So for street they should have no issues
