Yeah, it was a candy/translucent powdercoat - IIRC it was a few layers and quite a bit of work.

Nothing super fancy, but touched up with a little machining:

Default How do you get the headers that color?

Are the headers polished or painted or coated or ?? Look great. Oh yeah, will they stay that way?

I don't think they are powder coated. Probably a jet hot or a ceramic heat coating.

I sent them directly to Jet-Hot to get their "Extreme Sterling" ceramic coating. I just wanted a coating that would help lower the under-hood temperatures and maybe keep the turbo spooled a bit longer.

Unfortunately, the lighting in my laundry room doesn't do that engine justice. The red on the cam tower actually has tiny gold flakes in it, it looks AMAZING in natural sunlight. The black has just the right amount of shine but not enough that it's hard to look at. And the exhaust looks chrome. It shines brilliantly without any sort of polishing necessary. It's very impressive. But we'll have to wait and see until I get the engine back in the chassis for any real results.

And in case anyone is interested, Jet-Hot charged me $350 to get both exhaust manifolds, the downpipe and the crossover coated, and that included 3 day shipping. The results look very impressive, and the price was almost free compared to the quotes I received from local Jet-Hot "distributors."
