You're welcome E,

Been on my HD as a Word doc for quite a while, just haven't needed it myself until now. I have 968 handles and mirrors coming my way also...
Time to dust off the archives.

So I got a set of these with my car, but I don't think I got all the parts. Basically I have the mirror housings and mirrors, but nothing else.

What all do I need to mount these to the car? Can you send me the DIY write up as well?

Thanks!

I know its an old thread, but I used the vise method for mirror assembly last night. It takes significant downward force to compress the spring, but its doable. The bottom washer on the spring bolt was not wanting to go up into the housing base, causing more grief than the spring tension. I lubed the washer, then wiggled as I was pushing down and it went. Mirrors look great, but the pass side isn't getting any power. (Yes, console switch is in correct position) Troubleshoot tonite, then start on the 968 handles....

Yeah, now that I have my car back I need to get on this. I'm missing so many of the parts though that I'm just going to buy the mirror set from Sunset, then resell the extra parts I end up with.

I tried to figure out and price out what I need and it's more than just buying the complete set.

Yeah I bought the kit a few months ago. IRRC it was $286. Not too bad...

Now I just need to stop procrastinating and paint/install them

MM951, do you have the link from Sunset for the mirror kit? Might as well get those so they can sit on the shelf for awhile! I need to have the drivers front fender re clear coated, so I'll have the shop put these mirrors on at the same time. I'd like to get a set of the 968 door handles too.

ehall, yep, you sent me the document awhile back, thanks!

There's a good chance someone will pay $300 for your used mirrors on ebay, then you can actually make a little $ on the deal. Don't forget the 3X5 screw mentioned in the OP. The kit doesn't come with them...

Search "968 handles" Lots of info comes up. Also, Clarks Garage his info. Be patient popping the clips back on.
