Magnetic transaxle plug
This isn't as sexy as "I got a new Stage 10 turbo", but I couldn't find much on here about magnetic plugs.
I was changing trans oil yesterday, and had many small shavings coming out with the old oil. Cleaning the threads before reinstalling the drain plug was a bitch. Long story short, I boogered the threads on my drain plug. I chased the internal threads with a 24 X 1.5 tap, but I don't want to fight the chips again. If a RL vendor has the magnetic plugs, I missed it. They're an external hex head with magnet, and are $14 if you're in the same boat.

FYI, there are already two magnets inside a 944 manual transmission. One in the main case and one in the rear cover.
Possible that some of the shavings you are finding are not ferrous (e.g. synchros, forks).
But another magnet wont hurt...
