Default 944 loosing coolant

Hi there, I have a 1989 944 auto

for the past few days I have been noticing a faint burning smell, from inside and outside the car.

I opened the bonnet and noticed that the coolent was very low, just above the pipe of the resevoir. I added more coolent and noiced that it settled down to only one level. I would add more coolant but still it would go down to the same level, just above the minimum of the resevoir.

What could this be and is it safe to drive the car?, The car does not overheat and I have noticed that the heater has stopped working recently.

thanks for any help

You need to get a pressure tester or take it to a shop and have them check for leaks. There are a billion connections that could be loose. With a Stant Pressure tester you can pressurize the system and check for leaks.

Are you might be able to do it check with a dye kit but your gonna need tools unless you get very lucky and find the correct hose.
