Default What kind of gauges.....

What brand of gauges did you put in your 951 and where did you mount them?

Since I plan on putting my new 951 on steroids, practical and well placed gauges will come first, please share your pictures if you have them.

TIA

What Chris linked is super nice, but if you're not willing to drop that money...

You can do a search, there are a few good threads on the subject. Someone had a pretty cool idea of making a plate that bolted behind the steering wheel and held two gauges on either side of the top of the column. I would either do that or cut out the center vent and place them there. In my opinion, the A-Pillar gauge pod is annoying and blocks a bit of the drivers view. Plus, the window seal is never the same (having to bend around the two gauge 'humps').

Thanks Chris. I appreciate the info DDP, based on your experience I'll avoid the A pillar install.

The interior on this car is mint, everything works and I'd like to keep it that way so I want to make good decisions based on other people's experience.

VDO boost gauge at the bottom of the pillar in a piece of (black) 2" PVC with the end flattened out and slightly bent so it wedges between the windscreen and dash . I think i might get a V DO oil temp gauge as well .
Also Turbo smart shift /knock light think that will probably go next to my boost gauge .

I have a vdo boost gauge under the radio. I like vdo because they match the factory dash gauges.

Did this panel for my boost and AFR. Everything else is under the radio.. Oil and water temp, EGT and oil pressure.

if you do an a-pillar pod, do not put an AFR gauge there, it's really annoying at night.

As for brands, I am a big fan of the SPA Technique dual readout gauges for oil and water temps. Going Defi for all my other stuff. The VDO gauges are nice also because they match the factory gauges, however I like the Defi EGT as the temp range is higher.

JohnKoaWood has one of the most interesting set-ups I've ever seen. He purchased a second factory gauge cluster to pirate the innards and created a factory-looking gauge cluster with a true vacuum/boost gauge, AFR and a few other functions that I can't seem to remember right now. Anyway, it looks factory, functions perfectly, and I'm more than a little jealous.

And don't get the G3 "Reverse Glow" gauges. They're garbage.
