Default Hall Sensor Mount (SDS EFI)

Has anyone created a mounting bracket setup for a Hall sensor like the one that comes with the SDS setup (As seen below)?

This sensor accomplishes triggering with magents (two for 4cyl applications) attached to the crankshaft pulley, and the accompanying hall effect sensor.

I've seen the trigger wheel and sensor setups that Chris White, Clewett and SFR have made for electromotive systems, but nothing that uses a pickup like this one.

Any pictures and/or information about using a sensor like this one would be greatly appreciated.

Any reason why you want that one specifically? Its less accurate than any other options like a 36-1 or 60-2 trigger wheel on the crankshaft.

Purely to see the variety of solutions people have developed with other standalone system hardware. And to see if anyone is even running the SDS system.

I am familiar with it. Looks like a good system kind of simple. Leaning toward Megas Squirt when they do a DIY Kit for the 951 myself.
But good luck and keep us posted. : )

See if you can find some old posts by Rage2. He had a SDS system on his 951 and I believe he had a bracket machined.

Yeah, I tried that originally. I remembered his car. Almost all of the thread photos are dead links now. I did manage to find a direct link to his webpage, where he stored his photos and found a couple of interesting pictures of the mount he used.

Default SDS

Check SDS site. I had a SDS system and loved it. Very simple as described and great product support. Nice inexpensive kit that can be purchased for the same amount a MAF kit is.... Barry

I contacted SDS to get there 2 cents on the sensor mounting for our cars. They told me that many people have choosen to mount the mags on the flywheel and the sensor to the bellhousing. Either on crankshaft pulley or flywheel is possible.

Personally I think the pulley route is a more elegant solution if done properly.

There's an even more elegant way to do this, it was done on my buddy's Eagle Talon w/SDS. Some local guy made a black box that converted the stock trigger signal to be SDS compatible. Works like a charm.

Holy crap rage, I did'nt expect to get a reply from you. Haven't seen you around here in a while.

I remember reading in your thread about the blackbox and that SDS did'nt want to support is as a official addon since it required specific modification based on the application that it is used for.

Do you have any additional information about the blackbox, or a contact for the guy who worked on it? I'd like to hear more about it.

I'll have to dig through my notes to see if I can find the contact info. No promises though. Why are you looking at the SDS system anyways? It's a great system to learn the basics of tuning, but you get so much more accuracy with pretty much any other standalone because of 2D/3D mapping.

I still lurk here quite regularly, I've moved on to much faster cars, but I still miss my 951 once in a while and try to keep up to all things 951.
