Default Sand in my manual boost controller

My boost settings haven't been consistent lately for the past 6 months. I've had to adjust it everytime I get in the car. I have a lindsey manual boost controller which I've had since late 2002. I decided to see if Lindsey had a rebuild kit for it and sure enough they had one so I ordered it.

I finally got around to installing it yesterday. As soon as I took the bottom piece apart. There was at least a teaspoon full of sand there. I don't know how it got there but I wanted to let everyone here know if you have one of these it maybe worth your while to check this. The kit was only $15.00.

Sand? I would give my intercooler a good washing out. I use my homes jacuzzi when my wife isn't at home. I force the soapy water through using the water jets.

I had a blast trying to explain to my wife why there was a cylinder head in her oven, baking at 250*. Turns out, "It's curing the paint!" isn't a good enough answer.

Last time i washed my intercooler i ran some gas through it, then put it in my tub and kept running hot water through it. I may have to try the jacuzzi idea next time though.
