Has anyone seen a warranty card like this one? or have any idea why the option codes would be omitted?[http://

Hmm - is that how the other sticker looks at the back of the car behind the carpet?

Could the car have gotten a new VIN before it left the factory?
Although if they were "standard" for an 89 - would they be listed?

It's an 88 not an 89. I was just wondering if anyone had the same kind of warranty card. My brother thinks that the codes were intentionally left for some reason. Just curious if anyone had seen anything like it.

I wouldn't sweat it. The VIN number is relatively high - the run was 0001 through 1874 (last four digits). It isn't unheard of for Porsche to do unconventional things.

Post up some more pics of the showing the engine and interior. Looks like a very nice example. Do you know what sort of maintenance has been done to it?

Very well maintained. $16k in the last 30,000 miles. Burgundy interior with leather seats with "porsche" script inserts. The dash has the usual cracks and some bolster wear on the drivers seat otherwise looks almost mint. It was a blast to drive this summer. I had it serviced at a local shop here that races all kinds of porsches, lots of 944s there. The owner drove it and said it was running as an S should.

You might find this site interesting if you haven't seen it already.

http://webspace.webring.com/people/i...n.html#Factory Options

Your paint code LY7U is known as Slate Gray which I suspect is the same as Stone Gray on that link. In other words your car is one of 51 Turbo S cars brought into the US in 1988.

Might be fun to start a little registery for yourself and record VINs of other slate gray 88 turbo S cars that you come across on autotrader and ebay.

If your concerned about the lack of codes, why don't you go ahead and register it with the factory says about it. I wouldn't give it a second though if all is in order.
