I am in the process of putting my 951 back together and need to track down some final parts. So with that said...does anyone have a windshield for a 951 (shipped to 07731) that is reasonably priced?
Also..just for my personal knowledge:
Will a N/A windshield fit the turbo model?
TIA

I am in the process of replacing mine now. It is a track car so no radio antenna. Call around I had one quote from Safelite for 450, I assume that one may have had an antenna, the rest were in the 175 range. The 944 and the turbo windsheilds are the same.

You don't need the glass with a built in antenna. Buy one of those that you can put behind the radio. I had one on my 94 Audi 90 and I installed one last year on the 951.

Safelite carries the correct Sekurit glass with the antenna. It comes with the rearview mirror button and weatherstrip trim already attached.
The cheap glass is made in China and is of varying quality. It is made for the earlier cars, but will fit provided the installer knows what he's doing. It uses a universal edge trim that is a couple of mm wider than the original and you will need to reuse your mirror button.
I've had two Chinese windshields and currently have the Sekurit installed. The Sekurit is worth the extra money, IMO. The glass is thicker and has considerably less distortion.

the problem in buying a used 85/2 windshield is this -
new the glass has a frame around it - its the plastic piece that the rubber trim fits into -
but it also acts as a spacer so that when the glass is in it sits flush with the frame of the car -
when a glass is cut out of a car that pieces gets cut as there is now way to get it out of the channel it fits into -
so when its in the used windshield sits 1/4 or more in - and not flush with the metal windshield frame -
would be fine for a track car
buts its a little " iffy " for a nice street car
does this help ?
