Default Need your help and suggestions about jolting off of hard acceleration???...

Okay so i will try and describe this the best I can. The car has always had this jolting when i come off of acceleration. It feels as though it is coming from the back of the vehicle although im not sure. I am wondering if there is a mount or something located on the dif. in the rear. After accel there is a rocking back and forth that does not seem normal, although it is bearable, i would like to get it fixed. Let me know if any of you have experienced this problem and or suggestions...
Thank you, your help is always appreciated
Chris

Default Trans mount?

Does your shifter move a lot with acceleration/deceleration? Grab your transmission with your hand, push on it and see how much it moves.

Default Jolting

Hi,

I'm curious about thoughts on this too.

My car also "jolts" when abruptly lifting the throttle after hard acceleration.
I have a new clutch and I don't feel that the jolt is coming through a loose driveline as the jolt isn't a hard klunk or bang. It's more of a firm deceleration.
It feels like an abrupt fueling change is causing a lot of brief/sudden engine braking.

Discuss....

Cheers

If the shifter moves about excessively under acceleration/deceleration it can be a sign of a worn transmission mount. That is one of the reasons for the CV failures. The are mostly rubber and over 20 years old. Check it out by manually moving your transmission from side to side if there is a lot of movement then it is worn out. A cheap fix for this is to remove it and pour 3M window adhesive in it to harden it up. You can find out how with a search.

Sounds like a bad transmission mount to me. Had the same problem with my car. It used to make noise when the turbo kicked in. After i changed the mount, it fixed the problem, but i think I may have damaged my transmission from not changing the mount on time. Now it sounds like someone is applying the brakes when under hard torque.

I noticed a very similar feeling a few weeks before one of my CV joints started clanking _real_ bad.
Swapped it out and now I am smooth off throttle again...
