Default 17" Replica Fuchs

Does anyone have experience with some of the new 17" fuchs replica wheels? Specifically looking at the Zuffenhaus.us "fuchs" wheels. I know that LR modifies the 16x6 fuchs into a 3 piece wheel with whatever widths and offsets the buyer requests. The zuffenhaus wheels come in 17x9 (17mm offset) and 17x11 (unknown offset) and I'm curious if they will fit an '86 944 Turbo. I'm currently running 8.5" and 10.5" wheels, with no fitment issues. Opinions/help?

I ran across a post on Pelican where someone just bought some for their 87' 944, obviously different offsets but I think he said the company made them in other offsets.

i am incredulous as to all worship of this particular style of wheel.

but, they go nicely with the 930, one of the ugliest, and over-rated cars in history.

I regretted getting rid of my fuchs the day after I sold them. Don't want to go back to the stock fuchs because good tires in 16" are getting harder and harder to find. Plus the rears just aren't wide enough to keep the rear end planted.

ZW; I'm a little surprised at the pricing, the Zuffenhaus website lists their wheels starting at $3500 for a set. Makes $2850 look like a steal.

just go wider - factory 16X9 in rear work very well... ultra sexy, but spendy

I think Kumho makes the V700 or V710 in a 265 rear width, which should be sticky enough for most people.... Definately good on a 16x9 Fuch rim.

Wow, feel the love.

I quite enjoy my stock 16x7 and 16x8 black Fuchs on my 951. Plus, Fuchs look great with a nice coating of petroleum jelly.

Lindsey [and others] build replica Fuchs using original centers mated up to new rims. Generally welded construction between rim and centers.

The Zuffenhaus wheels are a work of art. Centers are forged, then CNC machined. Rim halves are bolted up to the centers. Extremely light, strong, and beautiful [if that's the kinda thing that floats your boat]. They are expensive, but if you want that look AND a really strong wheel.....

A friend of mine ordered and paid for a set a good 10 months before he actually received them. Just sayin'.

Obviously Zuffenhaus is doing something right, and their prices are in line with other 3 piece wheels. But could I even mount 17x9 and 17x11 wheels on an '86 951? I'm currently running 19x8.5 and 19x10.5 wheels and there isn't much room to left in the wheelwells. I've tried to use some online offset-calculators but it still doesn't help me in determining if they can fit.

Have you looked at the Linea Corse Rota Fox wheels? Not forged like the real ones but much more reasonably priced, depending on your application.

There's a huge thread on the Pelican 911 BBS on these wheels if you want more information than you could possibly ever need...

Yeah, search Jeff Alton on pelican, pretty sure that's his name. Apparently these wheels are for real.

Yes, you can run 9 and 11 inch widths on a 944.

I searched the Pelican BBS, WOW. $2800 almost seems too cheap for wheels like that.

Hi Aaron have you seen the new Porsche 997 Sport Classic?!? It comes with new Fuch design wheels so you can get the real deal from Porsche but I dread what the price will be considering the 997 Sport Classic is more expensive than even the current GT2 But still worth checking the prices direct from your local P-Center and I'd be interested also:

Actually, that data is a wee bit out of date - the $2850 was the intro pricing on our 50-set prototype run. The folks that got in on that deal endured the waiting period that goes along with tweaking and finalizing a product.

The production wheels start at $3250 for 8/9 and $3500 for 9/11 sizing.

Also, the market for this wheel is extremely finite, and as a result RRG has moved on to larger market lines - you can go directly to the source for data/purchasing.
