Default OPR and Oil Pump Questions

How many O-rings on the new style, '87 and later, OPR?

Shows 3 in the blow up in the catalogue. Just wanted to make sure this is accurate.

The catalogue indicates a spacer is required with the oil pump for '86 and earlier engines, what would happen if the spacer was installed on an '87 or later engine?

Thanks

Two orings, one internal, one external; one aluminium crush washer:

The spacer on the oil pump is required to use a later oil pump with the manual tensioners of the earlier engine. The later oil pump casting has a smaller boss for the auto tensioner system:

I am more concerned about the later one piece type OPR. Thanks for the clarification with in regards to the spacer.

Jim's picture shows the late OPRV disassembled. The two o-rings (p/n 999-707-144-40) go on the body of the valve (shown on the right) and the sealing ring (p/n N 043 815 3) goes on the screw cap (shown on the left).

Regarding the oil pump, there are some other differences between the early and late oil pump castings that might require the use of different length bolts to mount it to the block. I have a picture somewhere that shows the differences if you care.
