camber wear

A friend gave me an almost-new pair of decent falken tires for $40. He had a really bad suspension setup. The tread at the outside is pretty much 100%, but at the inside the tread is bald. The baldness extends through the whole shoulder of the tread pattern but not beyond.
My questions are, can I safely use these tires if I set my camber right, and what would that camber be? I'm thinking I could put the worn edge on the inside and run 0 camber...?

0 camber sounds like a bad idea on a 951 and no tread on the inside edge sounds worse. Look here

I think you'd be safer with less expensive new tires and correct alignment as opposed to worn tires and a weird alignment. I have dealt with these guys and I have been very happy with them.
Good luck.

Hmm, that's what I feared. I didn't actually pay - he owed me $40 and I never thought I'd see that money again... then he offered the tires and I figured it's better than zip.
I'll get nice tires when my rears are done, but since they still have some life I thought I could pair them with these camber-worn tires for a bit. For now I'll just drive another car.

It wont be a complete death wish as these guys are implying you will get away with close to 0 camber just dont expect them to perform like the 200$ tires just keep a close eye on them .You can catch a set of tires when they are half way gone like that then set the car up to get the most out of them . but when they are too far gone its hard to get much out of the tires .
but the missing tread with kind of offset the good make of the tires and you will get foochan wan tires to perform as good .

All I really need is for the tires to work for like 6 months. I thought if I kept the tires inflated at 36psi and set the negative camber at .5 degrees or less, I could get away with it. Sure, it won't be the ideal setup, but I don't really care about that for now, driving in the winter.

Arash,
I have a pair of Michelin Pilot Sports 225 50 16's Id let go for $50 - they have at least 50% tread w/ very slight camber wear but otherwise no flaws. You can pick up in San Rafael if you want them.

I say you make your money back by having a "burn-out pool".
Every minute costs 6 bucks .... who ever wins gets $5 of each and you keep a buck for yourself.
It would tell you how durable the tires would have been, make you a small amount of cash, and be a hell of a lot of fun lol.

^that's an idea worth considering!
So max negative camber (while keeping both sides equal), 36psi, worn edge out. And since I won't be doing any hard driving for a few months, I can live without the outer shoulder I suppose. Then I can buy some pzeros or something.
Matt, thanks for the offer but I have 17" wheels.

you can test the set up by pumping up to about 47psi then you should see daylight under the bald bit and if you on the bones of your **** u want to run 40 psi for fuel econ

I take it "on the bones of your ****" is an Australian euphemism for being broke? I wouldn't say I'm on the bones, yet. I'll start with 36 and increase if needed.
I suppose it's all subjective since I can't find 2 tire pressure gauges that give the same reading.
