I need more space for planned mods. Have any of you installed a smaller brake vacuum booster to 951? If you have, what booster did you use and how hard it was install?

I havn't done it i have one out of a car and it looks like it will bolt together pehaps an adaptor plate here and there ..
a good time to mess with master cylender size .. as there was talk that poeple would like slightly bigger master for less pedal travel .
i just looked seems like tha standard master is 19 and 23 mm bore

Julian,
do you have any info concerning the size of those 911 units? I am not going to use 968 TRS type of intake, so 911 units might be too large for my needs.

Look at the photos on Bruce Corwin's site (968turbo.homestead.com) and you can get some idea of the size. No vacuum booster, and the length of the hydroboost unit and master cylinder is a bit less than the street units.

Thanks; i checked out those pictures, got idea of the size. But does term hydroboost mean there is somkind of booster function even there is not any vacuum booster? I want to have some kind of powerbrakes . GT2/GT3 brake combo might be a little bit hard to use without any level assistance

Geoffrey has used these in his 964 race car and has build pictures in several threads--here's one:
https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...ght=abs+wiring
He shows the booster unit behind the master cylinder, an accumulator for high pressure fluid (the little black bomb), and the reservoir. In other threads he's got a good picture of the electric boost pump which takes fluid from the reservoir, pumps it to high pressure, stores it in the accumulator, then when you press the brake pedal that high pressure fluid is the source of your "power" brakes. The now low pressure fluid returns to the reservoir to be recycled. Hope this helps.

plenty of mean race cars get by with no booster with dual ballis bar set up you just have to get the the master sizes and pedal ratio right ..
Tilton floor bedal box is the way to do it poroperly .. thats what I'll be dong as the m aster is on the wrong side of the car and there is all this BS under the dash

My car will be more or less for street, so pedal box applications are not what i am looking for. 911 units seems to be a good approach to do it.
I will have a possibility tomorrow to check it out from various 911 models, for example 964 Carrerra RS, which should have a hydro boost systems.
A friend of mine just got a baby daughter and he is going to arrange something nice here:
