968 hatch question
I recently aquired a 968 hatch for my 951. Is the connector a direct plug and play, or does it require some wiring modification? Both hatches have the same electrical equipment.

It is a direct swap (I have both cars, I know) The wiring connectors will work as before without modification.
Two things to be aware of:
- The hatch pins might not be at the same level, when you swap the hatch, you may need to adjust the pin height to get it to close securely on the other car.
- The 968 (unlike the 1991 S2 and 1990&1991 951) has the 3rd brake light below the spoler, making it impossible to use the key to open the hatch!!! Make sure your hatch release button in the cockpit works, or else it will be nearly impossible to open the hatch!!!
- You can remove the 3rd brake light from the hatch, which will make it possible to use the key. This is what I had to do when I was running my 968 hatch on my 951.

You can actually order just the bottom piece of trim (within which the 3rd brake piece mounts) that was meant for the 1990/91 951 and 1992S2, as this version of the trim does not have the 3rd brake might, and you can still use the key with the hatch.

I almost convinced a kid I found on Craigslist to heads up trade me for my regular spoiler for his 968 one....so close.
Alright my late night posting spree is over. Commute to Boston for school 6am-4pm, then work 4pm-10pm leaves me a little dalerious on RL at midnight.
