S2 had 5 speeds not 6. Is this a 5 speed S2 trans or a 6 speed 968 box?

A year ago when the economy was good you could have gotten $1k more for a 6-speed LSD. Not sure now but unfortunately I don't think you are too far off.

Just confirmed this is a 5 speed with an aftermarket Quaife torque-biasing diff. I don't know if it came from an S2 or 944.
BTW a quaife diff alone costs about $1500 without a tranny and without setup
I will confirm casing

Right at the top of the bellhousing on the transaxle there will be a stamped set of numbers and letters in the aluminum! Let us know what the code is and the build date, do you know if the transaxle had any bearings or just seals replaced when LSD unit was installed? How many miles, who did the diff. swap and has the car been raced a bunch? Heres the breakdown: http://www.clarks-garage.com/pdf-manual/trans-04.pdf

From memory you hadn't had that car together for a long time. Any reason why you sold it or am I off the mark?

ok, everyone pretend this thread doesn't exist and OP take that diff and hide it for a few months until I can save up some scratch. Someone needs to take this awesome deal or i'm gonna be in more debt.
