Default Oil Pressure question/Noise

I recently changed oil and filter. Mahle filter and 15w40 oil. First two start ups were fine no noise good oil pressure blah, blah. The next start up the oil pressure at idle pegged at 5 bar and I heard a slight noise coming from around number 4 cylinder. If I do the old put a long screwdriver to my ear and touch the cam cover around number 4 the sound seems more definite and louder.
Lifter? Valve?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds like maybe your OPRV got stuck if it went to 5 at idle. Pull it and check for small debris that might be causing the OPRV to bind. They can stick either open or closed although low/no oil pressure is more common. It only takes a few minutes after you pull the RF wheel off.

Is there a write up on how to do this or is it pretty straight forward?

It's very easy. It's the hex head 19mm socket at the lowest point on the oil cooler housing right above the BS bracket. If you take the wheel off you can get a straight shot at it with a long extension and a flex helps also. It just unscrews and pulls out. There should be an o-ring on the tip of the 1-piece style if you have an 87>; if you have an <86 there are two types. The old one is a 3-piece with head, spring, and piston or it might have been converted to a retrofit style 1-piece installed at some point very similar to the later cars. Either type should be clean and come out very easily.

Yes, he lives way up north in Mn. not that far from Canada. If the sound is more like a tick tick, it most likely is a lifter.
Cheers,
Larry
