Has anyone had to replace or change their rear vision mirror on the windscreen? I want to shift mine closer towards me for a couple of reasons. One, I have always found that the degree of neck twist (that's a tech term) too much and I can't see why it couldn't work if it were 6 or so inches closer to me. Secondly it would allow better viewing for in car video.
Basically is there any issue to note when trying this? Also is there a smaller mirror out there that would do just as good, if not a better job? Maybe slightly convex.
thanks

sometimes bigger is better
I installed a 5 panel wink and love it. Can look sideway by glancing at it and it really lets you know where the car is even if it is lateral to you. YOu are already on the slipery slope to all out track car so this is not that big a jump

This is just for my street / track car so I'm not sure if I could mount that without a cage? In this situation I'd be comfortable with a 'normal' mirror, but I just don't know if there's an issue with actually removing the stock one and shifting it closer to me in terms of the bonding agent, glass cracking and whatever else.
The Wink style would go in the trackcar that I'm slowly putting together.

No issues at all with removing and relocating it. You just want to loosen and remove the mirror from the base, and you could probably just heat the base to separate it from the glass. A razor blade works well to clean the old glue off.
They make rearview mirror adhesive kits that are available at parts store (don't know about in Australia?). It's basically a vial of superglue like adhesive that you crush and swap on the glass and button. Hold it while it bonds and then tape it for support for a few hours. Thanks Travis. That's a good link. Looks easy enough.
