The black 951 near the top center. WTF? They must of spent at least a benjamin for that advert.

I drove one locally months ago that was advertised at $7500. 160K+ miles, body was decent, interior was rather poor, needed A/C work, needed suspension work (very vague and horrible ride quality), etc. The owner was upfront about everything and even gave me an estimate of what it would cost to have it all fixed. It was in the thousands of course, and needless to say he hasn't sold it (or brought down the price). The engine did seem strong, though, and some things were good (recent clutch, water pump, etc).

If you think that one is "high" take a look at this response that I received from an optimistic seller who is advertising her 1991 S2 for $41K.
"I did however relook at some of the auto trader adds that I had previously printed out for comparative pricing. On my 5/21/09 printout in searching 944s there is a white one for sale which is a 1988 w/106,000 miles for $34,900. Has been a race car with lot of work done on it, so probably has had a lot of wear & tear through out. Other ones that I have seen on various web sites in the price range your looking for have all been very high miles well over 100,000 and looking rather well driven. If at some other time you are interested in my car you have my phone number and email address. My very bottom price would be $35,000. I feel like my car is well worth that compared to other ones out there. Another web site to also check if you haven't already is Excellence-Mag.com - strictly Porsches."
It is defintely a very nice car, if anyone is interested.

i dont mean to be a hard *** but including comments on cancer treatment on a car that was on ebay to be donated to a charity seems a little disingenuous. the worth of a car isnt influenced with diseases or charitiys. it is what it is

LOL yeah there are some dreamers out there. I can see how, if you're not really "in the know", you would have a hard time determining what is a fair value for the car. Someone who has an '87 944 Turbo does a search before listing their car, and sees prices all over the board, some for $6k, some for $15k (say a lower mileage '88 'S' or '89) so they price their car accordingly without realizing that their car lacks the detail the $10-15k cars have, such as service history, receipts, maintenance, etc.
I looked at one locally before I found my '86. Looked really clean in the pics, was an '87 w/new 18" Carrera wheels on it (though the ad spelled it "wils", which after speaking to the owner, made sense why he spelled "wheels" that way.) No service history, all the guy could tell me (couldn't speak English very well) was that "it's very fast, you want to come drive it?" Claims he changed "all the belts" 6 months ago, yet had no receipts and when I asked him specifically about the TB, just repeated, "Yeah yeah all the belts were done my my friend who is a mechanic for Ford." I asked him if he had the receipts and he told me he was sure I could get the receipt from NAPA where he got all the parts. 140k on the car, no service history, and he was asking $10k. Reason for selling? "Well I have too many cars and I need to make more room in my driveway." When probed deeper, he only owned the car for 8 months and it lived outside the entire time. My guess is: he thought it was a cool car, then discovered how difficult/expensive they can be to maintain, and decided to dump it.
Pass. Scary what some people think they have.

"Only 542 of the 1991 944 S2's were shipped to US and only about half were coupes."
Wonder what the other half looked like? 4 doors, early Panameras perhaps?
