Magnesium Intake Manifold?
In my bin of spares acquired throughout the land (and now on the auction block) I have an intake that MAY be Magnesium.
First, I have an invoice from Andial circa 1991 that shows pn 951.110.152.04 with a price of $765. I can't reference the pn to be sure but let me tell you a bit more. Anyway, seems like a lot for a standard turbo S intake (it has the double threaded inserts for KLR and vacuum).
The exposed metal is certainly much darker than aluminum, and by the "hand scale" feels lighter.
There is also remnants of the old gold color that was applied to the mag intakes I have seen photos of. Sadly, this was covered by a PO engine builder with red engine enamel. The old gold application extends to the interior of the plenum as well.
The larger diameter aluminum tube inserts have been removed, but should be easly replaced.
Thoughts?
If it is indeed mag, anyone need it for a turbo cup conversion (for a reasonale price)?

G-dammit, I'll take it if the first two don't...
You should test to make sure it's Mag: take a file and scrape off some of the metal (do it from inside one of the runners if you're worried about outside surface finish). Then light the shavings with a blow torch. A lighter won't get hot enough. Autoignition temp is around 475 C.
They should burn like no tomorrow.

According to the factory documentation as posted on Asarus' website, that part number does correspond to an Mg turbo cup manifold.

For reference, when trying to verify a real mag intake:
The early mag intakes had the same casting number as the aluminum intakes, so you need to inspect any bare metal. The mag is really dark gray.
The later intakes, w/ the two banjos, have a very obvious "MG" in the casting.
