I did something stupid and bought a Porsche 996 RSR carbon fibre wing ![Embarrassment](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/redface.gif)
I've already spent numerous hours thinking about possible ways of mounting it and I forsee weeks of time ahead just to figure something out that works, looks good and does not go through the rear hatch.
I don't like mounting on/through the hatch. IMHO it looks ugly and I want to retain the glass hatch and I also want to be able to open the hatch without removing the wing.
Phu!

Great find Duke! I once saw a nice install that went onto brackets that bolted on the back panel, between the tail lights. I'll see if I can dig up a picture.
I'm thinking about trying to fab up some aluminum brackets that will attach to the sides of the hatch - picture a 968 wing, but with straight sides and 6" taller.

I'm thinking about mounting it on the rear panel and perhaps some internal bracing to keep the rear panel steady.
Even though I've thought about many different mouting options, that has not crossed my mind yet

I think you've got your work cut out Dukey. I understand what you're saying. I don't mind the look of mine from most angles and way prefer it to the style Brian has posted just hanging off the tailgate. I think you will have to try and do it the way on Puppan's old car. In fact post #10 in that old thread was a pic you posted. That is the only other way I can think of. I also think you would have to strengthen all the parts involved if you were to do it that way.

I think a coulpe of scott gomes cars has the race wing mounted onto that body work above the tail lights/ number plate ... i think this is the way to go it mmay take a bracket inside .....
and remember the further from the car it is the cleaner the air and the more leveage it has but looks a bit crazy ..

I guess I am in the minority here but I feel like there is sufficient strength where the 968 spoiler loads the body, I could easily stand on that corner and that is not a lot different to the amount of downforce you would expect from that wing.Comparable wings on other cars are mounted in that fashion, eg the car that wing is from. You do need a proper point for the contact though.

Here's some new pics with the wing just placed on the rubber wing.
It will be hell mounting this thing. My initial idea of not interfering with the hatch will be difficult. That would probably place the wing too far back and too high up for my taste. But at least the wing size and shape looks good! IMHO it's a perfect match, just need a slick mounting setup.
