Default Light hood

There was a thread here not too long ago talking about the need for a good light weight hood. Yes I tried searching. There's a local composite fabricator here who is planning build a mold.

Yeah, it was made by IFC. Someone else was installing a GT Racing one, if I recall.

any consensus on whether IFC or GT racing one is best (fit / quality). I seem to recall its the IFC?

I have seen the GT Racing fiberglass one 1st hand. Very nice quality.

The IFC one is pretty good. I'm happy with the initial fit - however, now that it's had a few heat cycles at track events, it has taken a slightly different curve than it initially had... Kinda like there were internal stresses in the part, and the heat cycles relieved that. I'm still pretty happy with it overall.

OK, but there was a recent thread asking for another supplier to produce one. Maybe it was for a 968 RS hood.

These 2 pictures show the deformation - on the passenger side, about mid-fender, the hood has bowed up a little. At the front, right by the headlight, the hood has curled down (maybe 1/4").

When I first installed it, it was just right. The driver's side has stayed consistent.

The body shop who painted my fiberglass hood on my other car put it in their oven and baked it for several hours prior to fitting it to the car. The say doing so resolves 99% of the warpage issue - it doesn't stop it, but it lets them fix it prior to paint.
