Running without the balance shafts is fine but you need to have a reinforced oil pan pickup tube and you need to have a new power steering pump tensioner (better yet a custom stronger tensioner).

You also need to have every bolt or nut that is connected to the engine block red locktighted on and/or use lock washers and/or use lock nuts. And I mean everything. If not things will eventually loosen up.

But if you do the above... there's no problem.

The benefit is the lack of HP required to turn them, no risk of the belt breaking and tangling up with the timing belt and taking it out, quicker engine acceleration (similar to lightweight flywheel)... which lets the power hit harder.
