Default Inside of a dead Bosch recirculation valve

The design really is weak sauce. I can't see how that diaphram lasts more than a thousand cycles.

Definitely a design decision made with margins in mind. Powerful alliteration.

yup...funny thing is they are still using that same exact design in cars today...both my TTs had them and it was the first thing I replaced...ironically my 951 is running the recirc valve that came out of my last TT..

my understanding is that the part has been superceeded to the 993tt recirc valve, which is far more durable.

yeah, mine seemed to still be working OK when I bought my car w/ 85k on it, but it was on the list of the first half dozen things I replaced. I went with the alum one from Lindsey. There's no way one of those would survive with a Vitesse MAF - good god, mine gets a workout now...

That tear cost me ~800 rpm to full boost and resulted in horrible power delivery.

Such an amazingly cost effective design though. It's like a disposable BOV ...can't cost more than a buck or two to make those things!

Got me to thinking...the BOV's from Lindsey were the only ones that I could find that fit right into the same spot with the same configuration as the stock BOV. Are there any others with a similar setup? I've seen some folks with some other ones on there but they looked like they had to do some welding/cutting on the intercooler pipe to get them to fit.

yea and most the forge motorsport valve will work...even the updated versions are prone to tear and cant hold boost beyond stock specs...

I'm using their dual-port version.

There's quite a few recirculating valves that drop right in. The inlet/outlet is 25mm.

I'm using the Forge FM007P. You can barely distinguish it externally from the stock unit.

The Lindsey BOV's are the same as those Forge's - at least they look the same.

So, of all of these units, which one is the best for a car like mine (Vitesse MAF, 3" exhaust)? I just can't see there being even a noticeable difference in performance moving from the Lindsey to any of these unless I'm missing something.

A new stock valve on my car will last about 5 minutes...that includes 4 minutes and 50 seconds to let the car warm up.
