20 year old magnesium wheels, may not be that brittle but for sure become porous. Also not rebuildable if a kerb is hit.they look good though, but are they worth the chance?
a 951 cup oil pan , that was purchased s/h 3 years ago, looked good 2.3 kg lighter than the normal, first time we used it was covered in a thin oil film, and started dripping.
same thing happened on 2 Nissan 80s rally cars using mag dry sump pans , replaced them with cast
LM25 alloy, double the weight but proplem solved, plus stronger and repairable.

Porosity occurs during the initial casting process, not from aging. Wheels are pressure cast and these would have been made to TUV standards. Oil pans are a rough casting not made to any stringent government regulations, as safety is not a concern.
I have known several racers that have owned these mag wheels, including myself, and they are not known to be excessively fragile or brittle, not noticeably moreso than standard cast alum phone dials.

Oddjob you read my mind.
Magnesium certainly can be porous....... however it does not get any more porous with age.
Only age related issue with material itself would be corrosion, and that is clearly visible with naked eye (pitting, etc)
If these were early offset.... who knows, they may be on my car now

I have had several interested parties outside the country in Europe so I have checked UPS, FED-EX and DHL but it is still over $500. I imagine that you might be able to do a pallet on a plane for less but after 9/11 its really hard to set up an account with air freight companies!
