I'm looking to better prep my '86 for some track-duty. I'm wanting to do some proven oiling mods.
I'm going to be dropping the pan, to change rod-bearings.
I am thinking about updating to the Turbo S OE pan insert baffle (will this work in an 86?), and the oil pan baffle kit from LR.
I'm also considering an accusump, and KISS oil cooler.
Any constructive suggestions?

I can make you one of these, I like it better than the Lindsey unit, it has a little more area to it to block the oil and uses BMW motorsport trap doors
Also, the Turbo S oil pan baffle is not the one you want - you want the 968 one, it adds a crank scraper to the drivers side of the pan, but only for the length of the actual plastic baffle itself, not the whole length of the crank. If I were you I would save up for the I-J windage tray WITH teflon crank scraper. It works awesome. I noticed my oil pressure was 1 bar higher in all driving conditions, using the same oil and same ambient temps for comparison.

IJ Windage Tray, without a doubt. Since youre already looking at taking out the oilpan, then IMHO its a waste of time NOT putting a windage tray in at that stage.

If you want pictures, I have a IJ Windage Tray on my car.

I am definitely interested in your piece - pm sent.
What about an additional oil cooler, such as the KISS one? And any thoughts on an accusump?

I have a I-J crank scraper installed with oil pan baffles. A KISS oil cooler and a Saikou Michi catch can with a venturi delete. That setup has worked great. I was looking at the accusump turbo after oiler to help cool things down after the car was turned off. Looks like alot of other people are running the same parts

If you get the teflon crank scraper option from I-J, which I highly recommend, there's no need for the 968 baffle

While i think i know the answer to this (no), i figure i ask. Is it possible to install the windage tray / crank scraper with the engine still in the car? Like if i was donig rod bearings and installed it at the same time. Looks like the girdle needs to be loosened and i think retorqued..not looking to risk the crankshaft falling out on my head while doing this..

It could be done but it might be a little annoying. the trays are a very tight fit and some modifiaction is typical! (usually the mounting point for the plastic pan insert has to be groud down a bit.)
