I just picked up a full set of Escort Cups that I'm putting on the car now (thanks MPD), and in my recent Rennlisting, found a little conflicting info that made me curious. The rear setup has offset mounts top and bottom. While I was throwing the suspension on last night, amoungst the pains of the torsion bar cross-tube misalignment, I naturally positioned the coilover bottom away from the hub. I've come across many larger diameter rear coilover setups that required offset mounts, so I think I naturally assumed this was in the same light. I honestly don't remember what I did with the top mounts, but it seemed to bolt up perfectly.
I'm curious what the designers intended, now, after seeing a picture from a fellow member with them mounted tightly to the trailing arm. All the official product pictures show the top and bottom offsets facing opposite directions, but never show them on a car. Does anyone know what the design intent was?
The coilover with a helper is how I thought they were supposed to be mounted. The uber-clean coilover is what threw me for a loop. I apologize for the gratuitous use of other members' pictures for reference.![manual](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/rtfm.gif)

Mount them so the offset puts the shock body further away from the control arm. That way the spring perches don't collide with it.
