Broken P/S adjuster and loud exhuast heat shield rattle
I was under the car on the weekend checking for a really annoying exhaust rattle at ~2100 RPM and was able to partially fix it. The crossover pipe has a large crimped on heatshield on the section that runs under the engine and it is just crimped on, not welded too like all the other heat sheilds look to be.
So I busted out the MIG and welded the heat shield to the pipe with a few tacks where I could reach and that seemed to remove about 75% of the rattling. I wasn't able to get to the top of the pipe so it might still be making noise there. I figure I will have to remove the crossover to actually get to it, how hard is the crossover to remove at the turbo end? it looks cramped!
Also while under there I noticed a loose P/S belt so I took out the 13mm wrenches and started to loosen the lock nuts and the whole adjuster broke! ARGH
I'm looking online and they are ~$50 each.. Does anyone know a better source for these, or have one laying around they'd like to sell me?
thanks!
