Default Water temp gauge fault - RESOLVED

My car has just come back from the garage however it now has an issue with the temp gauge in the dash. The indicator is not moving up the gauge and the top part of the gauge scale is lit up with the red warning light. I am guessing a loose wire but where should I start to look

The temp sensor is on the top of the block. The forward most sensor with blue connector is for the DME, the sensor behind that with 2 spade connectors is the gauge temp sensor. Double check the wiring is still connected and that the wiring is still intact.

The wires on mine were pretty brittle with cracked insulation, the spade connectors were also badly oxidized. I cut the old connectors off and soldered on a new length of wire.
