Do you happen to have a cross drilled crank in there??

Oil has been drained multiple times and there were little to no metal shavings on the drain plug, nothing that I think I should be to concerned about. So I don't know what the problem could be there. The low oil pressure cant be just due to the oil viscosity though right? I usually do have 20w50 in there but I didn't think 10w30 would cause THAT much of a drop.

10w30 will cause a pretty significant drop.

Other than that, all I'll add is that your car is looking good.

Thanks Ehall. I guess it doesnt hurt to throw some 20w50 in there and see what happens.

INURGRL - No not that I know of, why?

Because on a some cross drilled cranks there is key ways that need to be screwed into the crank if not it will have a considerable drop in oil pressure.

So. I want to update this thread for other people with similar issues. It seems like after changing my OPRV, the oil thermostat, and switching from 10w30 to 20w50, my oil pressure seems to be normal again. It is a shame that I can not pinpoint the problem further but hopefully this will help someone out. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about what I was experiencing or what I did.

Just as a side note, what type of oil filter are you running? A lot of the after market ones do not have the check valve in them. As a result the oil will drain from your block and it takes some time to pump your lifters back up. I do not know if this has a detrimental effect on the pressure valve or not.

I think your biggest problem was viscosity. These cars hate any 30W oil. The PO of my 944S had a shop change the oil right before I drove it home 450 miles. Unfortunately I didn't realize they used some cheap 5W-30 in it until I got home and checked out receipts. The OP would flicker whenever we pulled off the highway and it never got over 3.5 bar. I drained that, used 20W-50 Castrol and the oil pressure is normal again. Unfortunately it smokes some on start-up now. I think the light oil scorched some valve stem seals. Glad you found your problem.
