Default Painting Cam Tower

After seeing all the great looking engines on the "engine" thread I think I will paint my cam tower while I have it off. Are you guys using any special primer, or just painting the bare degreased aluminum surfaces?

Degreased and painted. Then sanded the letters back to aluminum. Powdercoating is relatively cheap though and I suggest that route.

But how much weight did that paint add?

I'm working on some cool light weight additions right now. to offset the paint.

I like the plain, polished look.

I am a lazy SOB. I didn't want to take the cam tower off just to paint it...so this is how I painted the cam tower...

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I do like the polished look as well, but I think I will paint only the lettered area and then sand down the paint to reveal the letters. I read the one comment in 951Porschiste's thread about etching the aluminum first and that makes sense, but I will probably have the cam tower off again in the next couple of years so if the paint lasts that long I'll be happy.

I painted mine. I recommend powder coating. I'm actually going to see what anodizing would cost
