that's a neat idea - the taper is important to get you a good oil tight seal.

FWIW, I have an oil pan drain plug sender & a second temp sender in a sandwich plate under the oil filter - they are both switched to the same gauge. On a recent trip to the Nurburgring I was showing ~130C in the oil pan & 110C at the filter (post oil cooler).

A couple of thoughts –
Its not good practice to use Teflon tape on senders – most rely on a ground signal through the body of the sender. If you use a lot of tape and don’t tighten the sender enough you can have signal issues.
The banjo bolt would be measuring the temp of the oil returning for the turbo – not really a good indicator of overall oil temp.
The oil filter plate is a nice way to go for mounting sensors (temp and pressure)
Check out prosport http://prosportgauges.com/index.aspx for some nice gauges – 270 degree electrical temp gauges.
I just installed some of these and they look quite nice, dual color illumination was nice – white with the head lights off and red with the lights on.
