Did you measure the exact end to end lengths of both the manual and power rack rods (not tie-rods) end to end?
I am deciding which is the best route to go for adapting my bump steer kit to the manual rack since I've already done it for the Power rack and want to keep the inexpensive toyota tie rods that can be had for 40 bucks a pair.
Thanks, and definitely good work thinking out of the box....
BTW, the Toyota tie rods I sourced are M14 x 1.5
I assume that is the tap you used in the upper pic?

I believe you're right - it's M14 x 1.5. I can verify that later, if you like.

No need to check, if you installed 944 Power inner tie rods to the manual rack, you had to tap M14 x 1.5
The only question I need answered now is what Thread size and pitch is the 944 manual rack ends machined for?
I have a manufacturer's book and may be able to find an inexpensive match for the manual rack for my purposes. Thanks again for this post. Which lathe are you running BTW? I have one that has threading and tapping capabilities and may wind up doing just as you have done.....

My lathe is a Grizzly 16" x 40" I think. Got it from a machine shop going out of business. Unfortunately I don't have all of the threading gears for it (but will probably never need them.)

Great work and awesome do it yourself initiative, but wow.. you guys are going through a ridiculous amount of work for a slower rack.. I don't understand. Route the power lines back into themselves with fluid in them. (On your current power rack) needs to stay lubricated - Done. Faster "manual" rack.. The feel is better than i hoped.. I love it.

Think I've found the missing link.
How is the manual rack inner tie rod secured to the manual rack. Simply screw on tight?
Because the power inner rod has the locking tab for security.
Thanks again.

If you want to use early offset rack on early offset car Moogs can be shortened and new threads cut to them for easy enough solution.
This is late offset power rack and early offset manual rack fitted with moogs:
