Default How can I tell the difference between a #8 and a #10 hotside? (pics)

The hotside on the turbo I am installing looks significantly bigger than my k26/8. Here is why I think it may be a #10 hotside:

#1. The 'tongue' area on the turbine blade is4-5mm wider
#2. There is no KKK stamp on the hotside.

I'll also include some pics.
The first pic is a side by side of a Lindsey super75(8 or 10), k26/8, and k26/6
The second pic is the tongue area inside of the super75
The third is a pic of the turbine wheel on the super75
The fourth pic is the tongue area of the K26/8

I hope some of the more experienced members on this board can chime in and help, it would be appreciated greatly.

And for a random and irrelevant fact, the first pic shows why there should never be a #6 hotside on these cars.

I don't see any turbo in the first pic? Not sure how the measurements of the turbo go, but it looks like you are up to some fun...

In your last picture, there is what appears a "8" in the casting. It's a aftermarket #8 housing.

The turbo on the left is a Turbonetics replica KKK housing, you can just make up the "T" where the "KKK" should be.

You should find casting numbers on the housing (you may need to separate the housing from the turbo) and cross check with Turbonetics part number list (you can download their PDF catalog).

The /8 or /10 refers to the turbine (Hot) side only. The cold side (Compressor) can be bigger but that has no bearing on the size /8 or /10 identification as you requested. The /8 and /10 rating is a ratio of the volume of the snail of the turbine side only. On garret based turbos they use decimal numbers to represent this ratio ( 0.84, 1.00, 1.10, etc.)

Edit: Reread and it looks like you know the exhaust references. My apologies. The size should be stamped on the housing.
