Steering column movement question
Hi Guys,
I'm new to the 951 world having recently acquired one after I wrecking my 928GTS on the track (concrete wall + speed = ouch in a big way!).
The 951 I have is super original with full service history etc but it has a weird quirk with the steering column. The column seems to have about 1mm "in and out" slop. If i grab the upper universal joint on the steering shaft where it attaches to the spline from the colum I can get slight ina and out movement of the splined section (not the clamp on the spline). I have tightened the steering wheel nut to correct torque as suggested in another thread but it hasn't made any difference.
I have a new steering shaft but i don't want to tear it out only to find this is a column related problem with a known fix.
Cheers, Charles in OZ

Hi Pat,
I just bought the 951 to run at bathurst last year and then flip to someone else (as I was car less after crashing the GTS). As it turned out, I didn't end up taking it to Bathurst, so I'm just tidying up some bits & pieces before it goes to a new owner. I put the new shaft in this morning and hey presto - slop gone! Hope your project is progressing. Charles.

What are the details and what price are you asking for it Charles? Sorry to hear of the 928's demise
Project is progressing. All the last minute hiccups. Fingers crossed onto the dyno maybe 10 days.
